Mother's Day

Pirate aka Pie-Pie is going to be adopted by Vivianne--who is a neighbor and friend of mine.  She is also a long time supporter of this blog and has donated to my rescue dogs in the past.  Pirate is doing very well and I will update everyone with pictures soon.

Meanwhile, Tina the pitbull is still doing fantastic with Jessica Biel.  Here's another photo of them from the Internet:

Also, there are still idiots who read this blog and think that it's a platform to complain about their dogs.  Take this recent comment that was left on one of my posts:

"I just can't consider our dog a part of our family, like a child. Its an animal, preditor, just like the animals feasting on my garden every night. I hate our dog, my wife dislikes her, and my daughter loves her. So I am stuck with this beast whether I like it or not. She terrorizes the kids in area, hates all other dogs, has figured out how to get across our Invisable Fence. Barks all the time. Chases everything in sight, I cannot sleep at night because she HAS to be on our bed. She is cute as hell, but a demon at the same time. If any asked me if a Rat Terrier is a good dog, I would tell them to not walk away from one, but run. Do not be tempted to even try. We had a Jack Russell named Cuju before this beast, but it hated my daughter, and bit her. So, I bit her back, and brought her to the rescue that same day. I guess I am not a dog person.
On a side note...I have a really good dog to give away. Rat terrier named Lucy. Free to good home. Calm and friendly. Never barks. House trained. Good with kids. (is this what you are talking about?)"

Ok, now I'm an idiot because I hate our dog. If you losers gave as much attention to some poor child being abused, or some senior citizen in need of some company, as you did these stupid animals, this whole world would be better. You call me an idiot because I don't like our dog??? Fuck you then. If you care so much for my ass hole dog, come and get her, before I give her to some other ass hole who thinks dogs and cats are more important that kids and the elderly. Now might be the time for you to get a life. It's an animal you dope. One of the lowest members of the food chain.

1- did you post my flyer for my rescue puppy needing a home???
2- tell idiot dude who hates his dog... ALL serial killers start with animals first... how many dead people are in his closet, how many times has he hit/slapped/shoved/pushed his kid or wife?... so in helping animals we are helping all people
3- put up my damn flyer!

Not all serial killers started by abusing dogs. Some started by abusing dog owners. I better check my closet...I think I have to feed some losers that I stored in there.

By the way..I have never ever hit a child or women. I would however, love to punch the snot out of a few of you idiots. Oh come here here and give us hug.

Ooo, Bad-Ass BoB is one scary d00d. I pity his family and his co-workers (assuming BoB is employed) and anyone who has to put up with his dumbass self.

Bob, some of us are able to show compassion for children, senior citizens, AND animals, all in the same day!

Btw, "asshole" is one word.

d00d? What is that? Leigh-Ann...you are completely correct. Show compassion for all, not just the 4 legged beasts. Yes I am employed, believe it or not as a mechanical engineer. No, I am not an idiot or a serial killer. I am not a dumb-ass who people have to put up with. I have a wonderful wife and daughter who are my world. Just because I do not like my dog, I am now a serial killer? Wow. Talk about messed up priorities. By the way, I spent some time down at Gulfport MS about 4 months ago, working on a waste water treatment facility, and was wondering how many of you wonderful dog lovers were there to help out? I kind of ask this of anyone who gives me crap about not caring. Oh, and I didn't get paid to be there. Why am telling this...so you all know I am not some asshole dog and person hater. So there. Are we having any fun yet???

You don't have to LIKE your dog - just be a considerate and responsible human being and pet owner. Venting about how you "hate" your dog on a rescue site was probably not your smartest move. By the way, you might want to do some homework on the food chain.

Hi Bob why don't you come up north to my place. I would love to properly reeducate you about how to treat animals. You show your ignorance by the way you speak. What kind of moron comes onto an animal rescue site and complains about their dog? Clearly you were where you belonged at the waste water treatment facility. Why didn't you stay there like a good little simpleton? Those of us who read this site, love animals and are going to show you no sympathy. Oh and by the way, you just became the lowest member of the food chain.

Good little simpleton?? Up north to "properly reeducate" me? What in the hell do you mean by that crap? Oh, and I just became the "lowest level of the food chain". Once again you do not let me down. Animals over people. So, where is "up north?" I would guess in a lonely little cabin all by your lonesome with your trusty little pet at your side. Good for you. Stay in the woods and out of my way. I have PEOPLE to take care of. AND one last time, I DO NOT hate dogs. Just my dog. I have been a dog owner my entire life. Also, all of you humorless people...figure this out will you. Try really reading into what I have said. I laugh at myself all the time...many of you should do the same thing. Now give us hug ya big dopey.

By the way Blade you dip shit. DO NOT compare what I have done on the Gulf Coast as some thing you find humor in. Until you get off of your lazy critical ass and help out down there, you do not have the right to say what you have. Oh yea, lots and lots of pets down there with no home, so I would expect to hear about your "RESCUE" trip to save a few there. I am pretty sure you couldn't handle it however.

lol Looks like Bob is so angry he is unable to properly type his message! I didn't stutter Bob so why are you unable to understand plain English? I don't live in the woods yet but I will soon. You fail to recognize the value of life (all life) so I shall not waste my time anymore as you have shown your moral standpoint. I truly pity you in your ignorance.

Do you really pity my ignorance? So big of you. So, where is up north anyway? I ask because I am a deer hunter, and I want to make sure I stay away from your little "outpost", away from real society. Oh and I am not angry in the least. Just amused by you. Takes more than a freak like you to piss me off. Now go and save the world from maniacs like me will ya.

Bob, I started my serious volunteer career (a few years after becoming disabled and recovering to a point where I could be of use) in child welfare. I dedicated two years as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and ended up helping one family re-unite and eased the suffering of several foster children and parents "in the system". I worked long and hard for those results. Two things bumped me out of child welfare and into animal welfare:
1. Child welfare, at least in my community, is an extremely political issue, and government employees and contractors found CASAs and other outsider volunteers threatening.
2. Since I was not a government employee or contractor, it was extremely difficult to get current information or assistance. It took months to accomplish so little.

Animal welfare is much more progressive and receptive to grassroots programs and volunteers. In one day I can dramatically change the lives of up to 45 animals by transporting them from our local kill shelter to animal rescues like this one, or arranging transport to a low-cost high-quality spay/neuter clinic and arranging more finaicial aid for the working poor or below-poverty-level families. In an hour, I can improve the quality of life of a shelter animal by giving it a bath, cleaning its ears, and allowing it to run unleashed in a special fenced area. Although animal advocates and animal activists are varied in our beliefs, and we completely disagree on some issues (there's a group who accuse me of abusing my dogs and cats because I've had them all spayed or neutered), most of these same people will help advocate other issues like chained dog relief.

Also, again locally, many "animal people" are professionally involved with children--school teachers, community center workers, healthcare employees who do help humans. Shelter and rescue volunteers regularly take friendly animals to eldercare facilities, hospitals, and foster care facilities. There are growing programs helping prisoners work with rehabilitating and training dogs which helps their morale and offers job skills, and similar juvenile hall programs aimed at benefitting at-risk children. Teachers are developing programs where children can read to animals (it works! they learn to read more quickly with less pressure). There are programs utilizing horses to help mentally and physically handicapped children and adults, giving them confidence and increased strength, balance and motor skills.

People should help where they can. You would not be a good candidate for rehabilitating rescue dogs as a foster parent, but you have an excellent opportunity to educate your daughter about how to take care of your family's dog with simple lessons like giving them fresh water in a clean bowl at least once a day, feeding it regularly, and allowing it exercise and companionship (even if it's not with you). Something attracted you to this website, and I doubt it was a search for bleeding-heart dog lovers to bash.

As for your comments about volunteer work with the disaster-struck areas, that's a sore spot with me because thousands of animals and humans in our region suffered when local (midwest-Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio) donors and volunteers stopped or seriously decreased giving to area groups and focused on animals and people in other areas. Our homeless shelters and food banks suffered, and our rescues were full of Louisiana dogs which forced the euthanasia of countless local dogs. I admire that so many people dropped everything to help those poor victims, but I believe charity should begin at home if we also have poor victims. Although I felt awful about the plight of most of the animals abandoned in those areas, I felt worse for those just as needy animals here being killed because they were not as popular. I just gritted my teeth when our most reliable rescues sent financial assistance, volunteers and vans south and effectively turned their backs on suffering, sick, maimed animals right here. Since they had additional expenses involved in helping those animals (transportation costs, state health certificates to travel, etc.), I can't help but believe less good was done with the same resources. I hated it, but I would never degrade, scold or humiliate any of them because at least they acted and did what they believed was right.

Like I said, so many hot buttons, but most of us contribute what we can, and almost every "animal person" I know is involved with at least two other non-animal-related causes. But, Bob, this is a Save Dogs website.

!

I stumbled upon this site as I was in the process of doing some online research. I don't understand why anyone who is not an animal lover would get a pet in the first place. And if you have a pet and hate the poor thing, at least have the decency to try to find it a loving home. Those who don't are abusive jerks, pure and simple.

Bob,

If you like other dogs and not your own, I would advise that you give up your dog to a local shelter. Even though your daughter loves this dog, you as the responsible adult need to love and care for it. It does not sound as if you wish to train or rehabilitate your dog, or maybe you feel it isn't worth it. No one should try to convince you that you should. You should not own this dog. The most appropriate and responsible action you can take is to give it to someone else who can appreciate it and appropriately care for it. Regardless of your beliefs of who deserves your attention, you cannot justify treating it poorly or not loving it. Please give up your dog to someone else who can care for it or to a shelter who can place it. Do it for your daughter, your wife and your own stress-level. Do it because you love your family.
