How's Life?

I can't believe how the time flies.
I've been very bored busy with work and it's been hard to keep up in the dog rescue world.

My friend gave birth to a baby girl in North Carolina and I was in the delivery room...the birth was on March 1st.  It was amazing to see newborn life, for the first time, taking in the world and looking us all in the eyes.

Some of you know that I'm in the Web Design business and I've been plotting ways to venture into the Pet business again.  Even if I have to be a Vet's assistant for awhile, I think I'd enjoy being around animals again enough to justify a lower salary.  In the long run I still need to find a way to make money and be around animals.

Thanks again to everyone who continues to read my blog--I'd love to hear your stories and post them--which will help me during times where I don't have free time to write my own!  Keep your love for the animals!

Below is a great video from YouTube (it's a bit long...) It shows a baby and dog that grow up together.

I'm so excited you found me when you did. Oh, and every time I post a Biel/Tina story - I'll provide a link to Save Dogs. :)

Hey, Jon. I've been bopping by your blog off and on for a while, now. I don't think I've ever posted a comment, but I have to, today.

You're looking for a new job that will let you be around dogs? I have always loved dogs, but never could figure out how to make money being around them. Try a big-box grooming salon. I'm working at PetsMart now, for 2+ months. I took a 30%+ hit in pay, but I'm working my way up to being a groomer, where I'll make 50% commissions (potentially $20+/hr). Right now, I'm a bather, and if you ask anyone I work with what they do for a living, they'll tell you that they play with dogs all day!

I considered vet's assistant as a possible way to make money, but this is tons better. You deal (mostly) only with the healthy, happy, well-cared-for pets, and don't have to deal with the downward spirals and ends like you would at a vet's office. It's good for my frame of mind, my care is good for the dogs, it's a win/win situation!

Anyway, I don't know if you have PetsMarts in your area, but PetCos usually have salons, and even some other, not-necessarily-national stores, likewise. Just something to think about.

Have you considered being a dog walker or a pet sitter? Its an easy way to get into working with animals, and if you work hard at marketing you can build up a regular client base fairly quickly.

Good babysitters are hard to find!
