Tiny Dancer

Sugar Bean is adopted!  The little munchkin is now happily with the Stone family, who lives just across the street from me.  I've visited her twice and she is doing fabulously.  She sleeps in bed with her human parents and her step-sister pug Sally.  They love her and so it has all worked out.

I went to Downey Shelter on Monday and bailed out another dog.  She is a chihuahua/pomeranian mix.  I've named her Bette Davis because of her big, expressive eyes.  She was abandoned by her former owners after 15 years!  She is mostly blind and can barely walk--but I'm working on getting her good nutrition to help her bones and antibiotics for her doggy cold.  Here are her first pictures with me.  She's a little sad right now, but that will soon change.  I'll post more updates soon.
Take care, Jon.

Miss Bean's Vacation

Sugar went to a trial home today.  A nice couple that lives in my neighborhood was looking for a playmate for their black pug named Sally and their dogwalker referred them to me.  We met last week and decided that little Sugar Bean would probably make a great match with Sally.  Tonight I took her over to their place, where she will spend the weekend.

Sugar is such a sweetheart that I can't imagine it not working out, but I think a trial is always a good idea.  I'm already missing her and it's been less than 5 hours.  It just breaks my heart to think that Sugar might feel abandoned by me--but I'm only doing what is best for her.  I know that she's a trooper and will quickly fall in love with whomever her new parents will be.

P.S.  I posted an album with Sugar photos--the link is over to the left.

Sugar Bean

Sugar_aka_ms_bean_2My latest rescue is from the Carson Shelter.  Her name is Sugar Bean.  When she is being sassy, I call her Miss Bean.  When she's not being very sweet, I call her Splenda.  She is a purebred black pug that was labeled as a stray by the shelter.  She sat in the shelter for seven days, but no owner claimed her--so I adopted her for $37.  Currently, they are selling purebred black pugs in my local pet store for $2000.

She just recovered from a mild case of kennel cough and is already wanted by two families that live in my neighborhood.  I'm guessing she'll be at her forever home within the next two weeks.  It is very strange for me to have a rescue dog that people actually fight over!

I know she looks sad in this picture, but wait till you see her "after" picture...
